Once More Unto the Breach
With an Exciting Destination
Starting on Tuesday (which became Wednesday thanks to the weather), I'll be a member of the team at RaizLabs. To say I'm excited is more than a bit of an understatement. I'll be doing iOS development there, and I just can't say enough good things about everyone I've met on the team there.
That being said, it means that for the weekend, I'm in a strange liminal state where I'm no longer at my previous job, and not quite in the new one. It's a mostly exciting feeling, with the tiniest bit of "what if?" anxiety.
The Year(ish) in Review
As a recap for those keeping score, in just over a year, we'll say 14 months, I've:
- Changed jobs
- Moved from NJ to MA into a short term rental
- Bought my first house
- Had my first child
- Changing jobs again
Saying "I" or "my" for that is a total misnomer, as most of that would have been somewhere between nearly and completely impossible without my wife. She did all the heavy lifting with the move, buying the house, organizing the punch list of home improvements for the house, actually carried the child, and has been doing the lion's share of the child care. She also helped me manage both of my job hunts.
It's been an exhausting, stressful, and incredibly rewarding year.
